The Eulogy Project is a digital humanities initiative that curates and preserves memorials produced in honor of African Americans; maps the history of Black memorialization across time and space; and documents the Black community’s use of memorials to celebrate/mourn Black life and address various forms of violence/suffering.
The project is especially interested in eulogies and memorials for victims of gun violence, police brutality, domestic violence, transphobia, homophobia, maternal mortality, the HIV/AIDs pandemic, COVID-19 pandemic, and other health related issues.
You can help grow the project. Just submit your memorial in any form (traditional eulogy, speech, poem, artwork, photo, tattoo, social media post, etc.) via email to joseph.williams@eulogyproj.org. We will follow-up. You might also consider sitting for an oral history interview.
